2024 Training Workshop: Occupational Hygiene and Healthy Workplaces

Pre-conference training workshop:

Occupational/Industrial Hygiene and healthy workplaces (Hybrid)

OSH Pro Services invites workplace managers, OSH professionals, students, and all other stakeholders to a pre-conference workshop to kickstart OSH Conference 2024. Professor Dooyong Park, Professor of Industrial Hygiene at Hensung University, Seoul, South Korea, and former IOHA president, will lead a professional development course (PDC) as part of the workshop. Asst. Professor Raluca Aleksandra Strana, an information and sustainable digitalisation professor from Roskilde University, Denmark, will also contribute to the training workshop.

Time: 0830 – 1700

The following will be among the content of the workshop:

  1. Occupational/industrial hygiene management
  2. Importance of promoting health and well-being in the workplace
  3. Exploring strategies for creating a healthy work environment
  4. Designing practical approaches for managing healthy workplaces
  5. Introduction to technostress management

The workshop aims to engage participants in discussions, activities, and learning sessions that promote workplace physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Meet the Trainers

Doo-Yong Park, DrPH, CIH,
Professor of Industrial Hygiene
Dean of Graduate School, Hansung University, Seoul, South Korea.

Doo Yong Park is a Professor of Occupational Hygiene at Hansung University, Seoul, Korea. He received an MPH in Environmental Health from Seoul National University and a Doctoral degree in Occupational Health from the University of Michigan. With a prestigious academic career, Prof. Park has significantly contributed to research, education, and professional practice in occupational health and safety. His research focuses on exposure assessment, risk management, and developing innovative methods to control workplace hazards. He has published numerous articles in leading scientific journals and has presented his work at national and international conferences, earning recognition for his ground-breaking research and thought leadership.

Prof. Park’s contributions extend beyond the classroom; he actively collaborates with industry partners, government agencies, and professional organizations to promote best practices and advance the field of industrial hygiene. He served as the Director General of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute from 2006 to 2008 and as President of KOSHA from 2017 to 2021. He is an International Panel member of the Ministry of Manpower, Singapore, and an advisor to the Regional Center for Future Work, WSH, Singapore.

 Prof. Park founded the Asian Network of Occupational Hygiene (ANOH). He was President of the International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA, 2016-2017) and ANOH (2014-2017). He received the ANOH Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 and the IOHA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021.

Raluca Alexandra Strana
Asst. Professor in Information Systems and Sustainable Digitalization
Roskilde University, Denmark

Raluca Alexandra Strana is an Asst. Professor at Roskilde University, specializing in Informatics and Sustainable Digitalization. She earned her PhD focusing on Technostress and has actively researched this area since 2018, emphasizing the need for sustainable digitalization within organizations. Prof. Strana’s work utilizes a blend of qualitative methods, including interviews, observations, and ethnographic studies. She thrives at the intersection of information systems and the sociology of emotions, exploring technostress across various work domains in both public and private sectors, as well as higher education. 

Prof. Strana teaches and supervises both bachelor’s and master’s level projects centred on Informatics and Sustainable Digitalization. Beyond academia, she actively participates in public engagements, including lectures and workshops in Denmark and internationally (Norway, Romania) and appearances on platforms like Danish National Radio’s events.
